In order to be eligible for MBEC™ at Community Capital Development services, your business must meet the following criteria:

  1. It must be at least 51% owned by ethnic minorities.

  3. It must be a for-profit entity.

The MBEC™ Program concentrates on rapid-growth potential minority business enterprises, i.e., those generating $500,000 or more in annual revenues or capable of generating significant employment and long-term economic growth.

According to MBDA, what is a minority?

Individuals eligible for assistance under the MBEC Program are:
African Americans
Puerto Ricans
Spanish-speaking Americans
Aleuts
Asian Pacific Americans
Asian Indians
Native Americans
Eskimos
Hasidic Jews

Where can I go for business assistance if I am not a minority? What if my business generates less than $500,000 in annual revenues?

If you are in King County and do not qualify as a minority under MBDA’s specification, you can seek business assistance from the Women’s Business Center at Community Capital Development, or our Small Business Development Center (SBDC).

If you are in Snohomish, San Juan, Island, Skagit, Whatcom, or Kitsap counties, you can seek business assistance from Community Capital Development’s Northwest Washington Women’s Business Center, or at one of our partners in the Washington State SBDC Network.

If you are located elsewhere in the State, we will refer you to one of our partners in the Washington SBDC Network.
